Women must navigate a range of entrenched (and often invisible) socio-cultural dynamics in the workplace that can make them less likely to be heard, respected, recognized, and promoted than their male colleagues. While communication alone cannot remedy this issue, studies do show that women’s speaking patterns, linguistic styles, and behaviors can positively (or negatively) affect their treatment in the workplace and the degree to which their ideas are respected and embraced.
